What can you help with?
Anxiety, including social anxiety. Depression. General apathy. Feeling unhappy with where you are at in life. I can help you to build up your self-esteem and assertiveness. We will also find coping mechanisms personal to you. I can help with psychoeducation, say if you don’t know much about mental health.

Why is therapy worthwhile?
It’s very insightful to have a space to discuss your thoughts with someone who is there to support you. The focus is on you, sometimes loved ones make it about them when you’re needing to vent. Or they can be very bias. Therapy allows you to open up some new options, and ideas you may not have thought of. You will likely realise new things about yourself. I encourage self-compassion; there are strong studies showing it’s benefits.

What is a session like?
They are 50 minutes. They involve us talking through what is going on in your life or something you are anxious about happening in the future. People discuss things that happened some time ago, including in their childhood, other times what happened last week is explored. I ask questions to clarify I have understood. I share my insights and thoughts and will have a curious stance. I will be calm and supportive, it’s a conversation really. But it is focused on you which differs to an everyday conversation with a friend.

Do I need to bring anything?
No. However you are welcome to bring a drink, sometimes people find it comforting to bring something to drink. If you’re wanting in person sessions then there is water and cups here. Sometimes people bring some notes in case there are important things they want to talk about and they are worried they’ll forget.
-
Do you offer flexible sessions?
Yes, I offer flexible online sessions. With online sessions you can have sessions at a different time each week. I also allow rescheduling up to 24 hours before the booked session time. I do open up the odd in person flexible slot but this is rare and only when I have a cancellation. In person sessions are at a regular time, the same time each week.
